Root Digital League is a fun and informal way to play Root using the digital app. League games are highly competitive and entertaining, organized over the length of an established season, and results are reported and tracked.
General Information
- Season LH01 begins January 1 at 12:00 am (UTC) and continues until March 31, 11:59pm (UTC).
- Only players that log at least 20 games over the season qualify for leaderboard and award consideration.
- Please see the FAQ for details on league registration requirements and guidance.
- You may join league games at any time on the Woodland Warriors discord server, but you must register here first.
- All league games must be played with AdSet including all faction expansions.
- Follow or add the Root Digital League category on the WW discord server to find out more and share ideas with the Digital League community.
- Check out the leaderboards, as well as player and faction stats; we hope to add more stats over time and appreciate your patience.

Notes
- Live games with no timer are still recorded as live. Live games with timer can either include bluff or not.
- All maps (Autumn, Winter, Mountain and Lake) are included in the random map pool.
- Except for the second vagabond, no other factions can be banned.
- Two-way coalitions are only allowed with the advance consent of the coalitioned partner: the vagabond player must ask in the discord thread before attempting a coalition in game.
- Three-way coalitions are banned.
- Individual landmarks or hirelings cannot be banned.
- To match previous seasons, games with 0 landmarks on Mountain (resp. Lake) need to keep the landmarks field blank when they are recorded, even though the Tower (resp. Ferry) are present.
Formalities
- Game hosts must have all the faction expansions. If you do not, you can join hosted games, but cannot host them yourself.
- All game business including table talk must take place within the game thread in #rdl-games forum, in app chat, or in a voice channel within the WW discord server. Direct messages (or private communication of any kind excluding players in the lobby) are forbidden.
- Results are submitted here.
- League scores are recorded as follows:
Solo win Coalition win Loss 1 0.5 0 - Data tracked includes:
- game thread URL

- Reminder: Live games with no timer (async setting in game app) are recorded as live!

Guidelines
Game Setup
- Select the Root Digital League role in Channels & Roles section of the WW server to be pinged for league LFGs.
- Join hosted league games in the #rdl-lfg channel using the 👍 reaction.
- Host a game using the -lfg rootdigleague [game name, live/async, deck, clearings, 2d VB, hirelings, landmarks, etc.] command in the #rdl-lfg channel.
- This will ping other players with the league role.
- When your call reaches 4 players, use the ✅ reaction to close the call.
- The bot will automatically create a thread with your game details in the #rdl-games forum and ping the 4 subscribed players there.
- Host uses -rand map command in game thread for a random map selection, then creates the lobby in game app and posts the password in the thread.
Game capture
- The last player to join the lobby takes a screenshot of the seating in the active games tab of the app and posts it in the discord game thread. This guarantees that turn order is captured.
- The last seat player (first to setup landmarks) should take a screenshot of the landmarks and post it in the game thread.
- The last seat player should take a screenshot of the faction pool and post it in the game thread.
- The first player to reach 4 points should take a screenshot of the hirelings and post it in the game thread.
- Before the game ends, the winner should take a screenshot of the board state, and then a screenshot of the victory screen, and post both in the game thread.
- The winner then submits the game here or updates the already registered game.
- If you are uncertain of any of the game details, talk to the other players in your game to confirm before submitting.
- It is helpful to post the link to the submitted match back on the discord game thread so that all players can review the submission.
These guidelines are not mandatory—these screenshots contain duplicate information but following these guidelines ensures all data is captured and provides admins the means to address errors. Your game may be voided if the rules are broken, notably in case of lost information.
Disqualification
There are two instances of game disqualification:
- Game breaking bug: There have always been bugs and exploiting them is part of digital life. However, per RDL tradition, if a bug is truly gamebreaking and the other players agree, the game can be abandoned.
- Player replaced by AI (leaving or timing out).
In both cases, if the win was indisputably yours (in the final round only) and your competitors agree, you can log the win.
Players can be disqualified from league play if they:
- Time out or resign intentionally
- Participate in private/side chats about game strategy
- Intentionally break any rule in order to void a game or register a voided game
- Do not observe the Woodland Warriors Discord community guidelines at #server-rules
Players may report these issues at: https://bit.ly/rdl-dq.
Comments & feedback
Any comments/feedback should be posted to the #rdl-chat channel, so they can be discussed by the league and potentially incorporated into the following season.
